Annette Whipple Ewing

"Between April '07 and July '08 I had four surgeries for cancer and/or suspected malignancies. Chemotherapy and radiation were not as bad as anticipated. Going bald was a humbling experience; however, that was only temporary. I am taking an oral chemo now but going full force again and feel 100% back in the game. I was truly blessed with good health before the cancer came along, so I made it through with only minor problems. By this age, we all have had challenges. We are blessed to be the survivors!

Look forward to celebrating our 5oth with all the girls."

Here is a photo of Cot and me taken December 30th where he was invited to play Augusta National(!) and I went along for the 18 hole walk.  It was almost like running a horse in the Kentucky Derby (which we hope to do this May!)... the lore and tradition just awesome. Cot just took up golf last March so this was a big, big deal!!!

During April and May I went on a National Geographic Excursion, The Journey of Man. With the leadership of Dr. Spencer Wells, noted genographer who is tracing routes of early man as he left Africa by studying DNA samples, we visited 13 countries, the first of which was China—the trip of a lifetime! Here I am at the Great Wall, one of the more familiar sites. The lesser known ones were incredible, as well. I’ve never before spent a more challenging, wonderful month!

From Boogie Nichols: These were made in Hot Springs, VA, my childhood home, at a mini-reunion of Sara Lu Persinger Snyder, Trudy Florrid van Luyn last June. We shared a weekend at Garth Newel Music Center, and then were entertained in Sara Lu’s home in Covington. Trudy and Bob live in Blacksburg. Sue and I live in Jacksonville, NC.
